GIFTTS recognizes member hotels
in two ways, with Pineapple Awards and Certificates of Excellence.
The Pineapple Awards are given to the hotels that are leaders in each of the
three GIFTTS categories to honor their commitment to philanthropy, community,
or environment. Overall Pineapple Award Leaders have demonstrated their outstanding
participation across all three categories.
The Certificates of Excellence recognize all member hotels for their good works
in each of the three categories. Please see below for the complete list of this
year’s recipients.

Grand
Hotel Excelsior Malta
Grand Hotel Excelsior Malta had outstanding
performance across all three categories. Philanthropically, the hotel
raised nearly €5,300 (about US$8,000) for the cancer treatment
of one of their employees. Additionally, the hotel collected €4,000
(about US$6,000) for the Malta Community Chest Fund. The hotel's Aid
the Community Committee fostered a partnership with the Foundation
for Welfare and Security and organized blood drives and visits to
local elderly homes, children's centers, and a local drug rehabilitation
center. Their cross-departmental Green Committee meets every month
to ensure sustainable practices are in place, focusing on energy efficiency,
waste reduction, water efficiency, and pollution reduction. They share
best practices, meet with suppliers on environmental performance,
and communicate with guests and staff about the importance of such
initiatives.

Turtle
Bay Resort
Turtle Bay Resort organized the Legends
of Kahuku Celebrity Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Ko'olauloa
Educational Alliance and raised more than US$5,000. Equally important,
the hotel's community service group, Hometown Hospitality, completed
a Groundhog Day Job Shadow Program and attended local high school
Career Fairs, participated in the Read Across America Program, and
contributed to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. The Ho'oma'oma'o ("to
make green") Project, made up of hotel staff, was created to
implement cost-effective environmental initiatives and ultimately
obtain certification this November.

Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club
At Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club,
the hotel's philanthropic committee, Innisbrook Cares, contributed
over US$30,000 in in-kind donations and expects to give away more
than US$50,000 by year's end. All fundraising beneficiaries and efforts
are facilitated by hotel employees. The Charities of Choice Committee
organizes and executes an array of community service activities. This
year's highlights include collecting 150 pairs of shoes for Soles2Souls,
donating 118 backpacks filled with school supplies for local foster
children, and hosting a day at the Resort for Hope Children's Home.
The hotel's Green Team works to research and obtain green certification
for the resort, educate peers on environmental initiatives, and most
importantly, create a cultural shift within the hotel community. The
resort adheres to regular recycling, water monitoring and reclamation,
and container reuse.

Egerton
House Hotel and 41
The Egerton House Hotel and
41 continue to support a host of different charities in England,
including The Starlight Foundation, Great Ormond Street Children's
Hospital, Streetsmart, Race for Life, Action Against Hunger, the National
Autistic Society, and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Both hotels have
implemented The Ark Foundation, a support, educational, and advisory
service offered by Hospitality Action and specifically focused on
substance abuse within the hospitality industry. The Green Team has
implemented the Top 12 Green Standards, a set of eco-principles created,
displayed, and updated by the hotel staff. They have sought relationships
with local suppliers to curb their carbon footprint and meet every
six weeks with the General Manger and HR Representative to discuss
achievement and goals, regularly inviting a member of the environmental
industry to be a guest speaker.

Devi Garh
Devi Garh supports Seva Mandir, a
local organization dedicated to eradicating poverty and improving
education in the villages around Devi Garh. Additionally, the hotel
repaired the local village health clinic, implemented a garbage collection
and disposal system in the village, and sells artwork and crafts created
by local women.

Delhi
The Metropolitan
Hotel New Delhi runs METREACH, a comprehensive corporate social
responsibility program, which supports a variety of charitable and non-governmental
organizations focused on socio-economic, educational, and health initiatives.
Employees assisted with raising funds by hosting music concerts, art
exhibitions, and fashion shows.

Hotel Napoleon
Paris hosts Voyage pour la paix, or "A Trip for
Peace." This cultural exchange program invites children and their
parents from Israel and other Middle Eastern countries to stay at the
hotel. The overriding goal is to create lasting relationships for the
future by demonstrating that children from different countries and conflicting
cultures have many things in common.

Tulum Resort & Spa
Dreams
Tulum Resort & Spa engages in a number of community service
activities, including volunteering at Julio Ruelas, a local elementary
school, and participating in clean-up efforts at Tulum archeological
site ruins, the Tulum town plaza, and the two miles of beachfront adjacent
to the hotel.

Hotel Metropole
raised €50,000 (nearly US$75,000) for the groups Child Focus, which
focuses on healthy childhood development, and Missing Children Europe,
an organization dedicated to preventing and solving missing- and sexually
exploited–children cases throughout Europe. To raise funds, the
hotel hosted a prestigious gala dinner and auction, sold photos from
a staff event, and organized a second-hand trade bazaar.

Christopher Keating,
chef at Hotel Jerome, A RockResort, helped raise more
than US$12,000 to support the Children's Health Foundation, Aspen Deaf
Camp for Children, and local farmers through an array of fundraising
efforts, including culinary events and a "Greenalicious" event.

| Dreams Los Cabos Resort & Spa
Dreams Los
Cabos Resort & Spa raised approximately US$7,500 for the
construction of a children's hospital in Los Cabos and the Mexico City–based
Teleton Foundation, which serves children with neuromusculoskeletal
disabilities. The hotel raised roughly US$6,000 via an optional US$1
donation from guests, while generous employees donated the remaining
US$1,500 from their paychecks.

Pan Pacific
Hotel Seattle raised approximately US$4,000 to benefit Susan
G. Komen for the Cure and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Hotel
associates raised the funds through a car wash, a raffle, participation
in the Susan G. Komen Race for The Cure 5K event, and through a "Pie
in the Face" event in which associates paid to throw pies at executive
staff members.

| Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa
Dreams Puerto
Vallarta Resort & Spa organized The Sea Turtle Conservation
Program to prevent Golfina Sea Turtle extinction and released 63,000
hatchlings to the wild in 2008. Entirely operated by hotel employees,
the program collects the eggs, inventories them, and places them in
protected nests. Then the employees maintain the appropriate nest temperature,
record the number of days of incubation, and ultimately direct the release
of the hatchlings with participation from children from the Pasitos
de Luz and Casa Infantil Mojoneras centers and hotel guests.

| Es Saadi Gardens & Resort
For the past 15
years, Es Saadi Gardens & Resort has operated a
sustainable farm, supplying their seven restaurants with organic vegetables,
fruits, herbs, olive oil, and poultry. Known as Le Bled, the farm employs
11 full-time laborers. In addition, the hotel recycles all glass, paper,
and ink cartridges, heats their Palace Pool with solar energy, and uses
natural fertilizers and a drop-by-drop recycling irrigation system on
their 20-acre grounds.

The Charles
Hotel, Harvard Square introduced several new green initiatives
this year: the "Juice Bar," a set of charging outlets that
allow hotel guests to charge their electric and hybrid vehicles free
of charge; the nanoMAX™ detection system, which assesses the size
of a vehicle and discounts parking fees for smaller cars; the complimentary
Hotel Bike Program, which offers six Electra Amsterdam Classic Bicycles
to guests as a means of transport during their stay; and a partnership
with Save That Stuff, a local compost service that collects the hotel's
biodegradable and compostable waste three times per week. Beyond these
initiatives, the hotel closely monitors water use, resource consumption,
and energy efficiency throughout all operations.

Ista Hyderabad
embraced environmentalism with their World Environment Day Celebration,
which included tree planting by both staff and guests, a presentation
of environmental initiatives, a screening of An Inconvenient Truth,
and an open forum for hotel staff to discuss ideas. On a day-to-day
basis, however, the hotel strictly monitors their water, lighting, and
energy consumption, highlights a "Green Menu" in their restaurant
and staff cafeteria, and strongly encourages staff to suggest and enact
new ideas for environmental consciousness.
